Project Description

Generated through bending in multiple orientations, the house exists as a linear whole with two parts and a transitional space that deviates from the directionality of the overall form. Punctured by a vertical void, the bent form establishes two sides with extreme conditions. The bend allows for a split in perspective in each of the given spaces, as inhabitants either look up or down and into the opposing side, or outwards through apertures in the void. The center void also acts as its own living space and hinge. With stairs moving perpendicular to the linear form, the circulation fluctuates between being isolated and exposed. This transitional threshold uses circulation to understand the changing form, as movement through expanding and contracting spaces constructs a selective reading for different inhabitants.
