Project Description
Ones and Zeros is a homage for celebration — a connection to the physical past, and a prospect to the digital future. The breaking of representational boundaries through our project, titled One and Zeros, proposes an interactive actualization of the 8-bit theme through the physical realization of the on-and-off state — also known as a byte. Inspired by the binary condition of 1’s and 0’s, each light box can be powered on or off to give the gridded 5x10 screen over a trillion possible permutations of atmospheric conditions. However, with wires that run from the panel to the boxes, the connection can only be revealed to the visitors through the haptic flip of a switch. This gives each user the opportunity to explore their own creative narrative in our celebration of the Archi Arts centennial.
